Throw back Thursday

I asked Chris' parents to send over some photos of him when he was 14/15 months (the same age as J is now). I love looking at photos and comparing them to Jackson.
Turns out he was a pretty cute baby too!

Jackson has the same hair, straight on top with the curls at the back and around the sides.

This one makes me really excited about our holiday in a few weeks time!!

The concentration on his face - funny how he still looks like this now, hehe!

Chris' first time out at sea, quite the explorer!

This is a classic 90's outfit!

Do you think that Chris and Jackson look alike?

15 month update

At the beginning of his 15th month, we were guests at a wedding where Jackson was their little Pageboy. He was so cute and so well behaved during the day.

We also celebrated Father's Day, for which we went out for an early dinner so we could all eat together. Jackson had ice cream and afterwards we experienced his first sugar rush! He was crazy as he ran around the house screaming and shouting excitedly, until he finally went to bed an hour and 1/2 late!!

Milestones

Recently, it feels like every time I look at Jackson he seems to be growing up. This is mainly down to the little developments, such as the way he sits on the sofa to eat his snacks or how he walks over to me just to give me a cuddle. In regards to the big milestones, they seem to have slowed down a bit.

Again, we have had another tooth through! 5 more to go!!! He's been teething the last few days so I am sure the next will be coming through soon.

His hands are still in the air when he walks, which is so cute as he looks like a little monkey. He's got so confident and has so much more control when walking now.

His new word this month is 'more' especially when he's eating - he's such a little piglet!

Routine

His day to day routine is as follows:

7:00/7:30am - wake up and has 5oz of milk in a beaker
8:00am – breakfast
12:00pm – lunch
1:00 – nap for 1 to 2 hours
3:00pm – snack
5:00pm – dinner
6:00pm - bath
6:30pm - bottle 7oz
7:00pm - down for bed

Clothes and Weight

He is still wearing a real mixture of 12-18 month and 18-24 month clothes.

Breakfast Ideas

I felt that little J's breakfasts were getting very repetitive and he wasn't eating as well as he used to, so I thought I'd mix it up a bit and share some of the new things that I have given him and, most importantly, what he thought of them!

Monday

Alphabites and banana.
These are from the brand 'Bear' and have no added ingredients. I don't think Jacks will ever get bored of banana's, in fact I think he has a bit of an addiction to them! He loves feeding himself the cereal too.

Tuesday

Weetabix and tinned peaches.
Weetabix is a safe favourite of little J's. However, the peaches were a new try and he found them very hard to pick up.

Wednesday

Banana pancakes and plums.
I have shared this recipe lots of times, it is just too yummy! Jackson thinks so too.

Thursday

Cereal bar and tangerine.
We were in a rush this morning, so I gave him a cereal bar - I thought it would go down very well but little J was not that impressed.

Friday

Crumpet with marmite and pear.
I had the same breakfast this morning, it was really good!

Saturday
Readybrek with raisins and blueberries.
Readybrek is a really good breakfast to disguise lots of different fruits that little J wont normally eat!

Sunday

Scrambled egg, mushrooms and baked beans.
This was little J's favourite breakfast this week. I have never seen him eat so fast! I did give him a spoon to use but that was just not quick enough for him, he went straight in with his hands instead!

Let me know if you have any good breakfast ideas.

Outfits of the week

I loved the last blog that I did like this. It's crazy, looking back at how different Jackson is from then to now. Last time, I would place him somewhere and try to make him smile but now, I have to try to make him stay still long enough just to take a photo (but at least the smiling's not a problem)!!

Garden wish list

Chris and I, (mainly Chris) have been re-doing our garden.

First on the list was the fence, which Chris and his Dad took down and replaced with a new one. Next job is the decking which is almost done!! Then finally it will be the lawn, for which we have decided that we should go for the artificial grass. We made this choice because of the doggies and thought that it would be easier with Jackson playing in the garden. Even though we are a little way off having it completed, it hasn't stopped me looking for items to fill it with!

We already have a mini climbing frame for Jackson, which he got from his Grandpa and Grandma for his birthday.

For the sunny days, I wanted to find a paddling pool, either for actually getting in or just to play with the water. Jackson is the sort of child that gravitates towards water, which is something my sister used to do when she was little. She was forever falling in pools and lakes, so I am pretty sure this is something he has got from her!

I thought that this baby pool was a good idea with the shaded part over the top.

Like I said above, Jackson really enjoys playing with water, so I thought I might get him a sand and water table. However, this is still a maybe, as I have a strong belief that sand should be near the sea and nowhere else!!

I saw these and thought they would be brilliant in the slide part of his climbing frame, just for some extra protection for when he decides to throw himself down the slide (often head first!!)

So enough bits for Jackson, now time for Mama and Dada garden bits. Last year we had to throw away our BBQ as it was starting to get dangerous, so we will definitely be getting a nice new one to finish off the garden!

 BBQ

I also have my heart set on a corner sofa/table for our garden, as it will free up some more space because we push it right into the corner. We have a perfectly good working table and chairs though and I always live by the rule if its not broken why fix it, so this may not be for a while!

We have recently hired a garage and got rid of our shed, so I thought that this would be a good idea for a little bit of easy access storage in the garden. It also doubles up as a bench for some extra seating.

I can't wait for the garden to be done so I can enjoy it outside with Jackson.

Let me know if you have recently brought any good garden bits.

14 Month update

This month we have had two birthdays - Jackson's Grandpa's and one of this Uncles' too.
We also had a visit from my Cousin for the weekend, so we had some family fun. As well as that, we did some other lovely things, such as when we took a walk by the river, for a picnic, and went on another walk where we saw lots of birds.

Recently, the weather has been really nice so our days have been filled with trips to the farm and trips to the park to have picnics in the sunshine.

Milestones

I feel like I mention this all the time but Jackson had 2 new teeth come through and another is already on the way. They were his canines this time, so I thought that it would have been easier but they have caused him some grief and some tears! This could have also been because they have both come through together quite quickly. However, if my calculations are correct, it means that we have only 6 more to go until he has a full set!!!!

The most exciting thing to happen this month is that we now have a walker!!!!! He still needs the furniture to help him stand up from a sitting position but is now favouring walking rather than crawling. He is so cute as he holds his hands up in the air to help balance himself! I have to admit, this has been our proudest moment yet!

A really cute thing he has started doing too is that he loves dancing now and if you ask him to dance he normally does it on demand!

Not sure if this happened last month or this month, but he has also learnt to clap. A bit late to the party on this one but now he does it all the time and at everything!

Routine

His day to day routine is as follows:

7:00/7:30am - wake up and has 5oz of milk in a beaker
8:00am – breakfast
9:30am – nap for about 1 hour
12:00pm – lunch
1:30/2:00pm – nap for about 1 hour to 2 hours
3:00pm – snack
5:00pm – dinner
6:00pm - bath
7:00pm - bottle 8oz
7:30pm - down for bed

Clothes and Weight

He is still wearing a real mixture of 12-18 month and 18-24 month clothes now.

I got him weighed at the beginning of the month and he was 27lbs 5oz , and on the 98th percentile.
